Hamas leader killed in retaliatory strike
Posted
Israeli airstrikes in Gaza have killed senior Hamas commander Issa Batran and wounded 11 other people.
It is the first time an Israeli air strike has killed a Hamas commander in Gaza since Israel's military offensive there 18 months ago.
The Israeli army says the strikes were carried out in response to a Palestinian rocket fired into the Israeli city of Ashkelon on Friday.
The rocket damaged an apartment block but did not injure anybody.
