Maggie Hamilton

Maggie Hamilton spent two years researching the lives of young girls, and she's come to some alarming conclusions.

Broadcast date Friday 24thJuly 2009

At a time when parents are expected to commit more hours to their jobs, Maggie Hamilton sees girls at risk of being raised by the 'super-parent' of pop culture - which may not have a young girl's best interests at heart.

Maggie talked extensively to young girls, their teachers and parents, to psychologists and police officers - all to get inside the minds of the pre-teens and teens, and what she found there was at times shocking. It's not all bad news though - there are plenty of ways in which parents and grandparents can equip themselves to better-understand their daughters and granddaughters.

Maggie's book is called What Is Happening To Our Girls?
